I am delighted to welcome you to Leominster Town Council’s website which has been designed and constructed to provide as much information as possible for local residents and visitors to our town.  I hope that, as the website grows and develops, more local community and voluntary organisations will use it to publicise their events and, maybe, develop their own pages for inclusion on the site.

 We are proud of our town and its history, which goes back at least 1400 years and owes much of its prosperity and importance to the Saxon Priory and to the wool trade in medieval times, based on the fine wool of the local Ryeland sheep.

 Leominster is a bustling market town with a weekly Friday Market and monthly Farmers’ Market, held in Corn Square, in the centre of town.  We also hold a very popular Victorian Street Market on the second Saturday in December, and European Markets and Plant Fairs in the town streets at various times during the year.  The town also hosts the traditional May Fair in the streets at the beginning of May.  Details of these and other special events can be found on the events calendar of this website.

We have many interesting little shops and galleries specialising in foods, antiques, gifts and crafts and there is an internationally recognised auction house on the outskirts of town specialising in sales of Fine Arts, antiques and four-wheel drive vehicles.

We are pleased that the town’s industrial and commercial base is growing and providing more job opportunities and we especially welcome the new and relocating businesses to the new Enterprise Park and wish them every success.

There are a number of sizeable housing developments in various stages of construction at present and we look forward to greeting many new residents in the years to come.
