Leominster and Hereford Mayfair Cancelled

** The following press release is from Herefordshire Council**

The rescheduled Mayfair in Hereford and Leominster has been cancelled, Herefordshire Council can confirm.

The fairs were originally postponed earlier this year from their usual Spring dates until the Summer, when it was hoped circumstances would be safer and easier for events to go ahead.

While coronavirus restrictions are set to change from 19th July, the 4 week pause to that lifting imposed by central government resulted in a lack of certainty being given as to whether these fairs could take place.

Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of the council and event organisers, it has not been possible to put together viable events within such a short timeframe, taking into account the complexities of street fairs.

Dean Deakin, Chairman of the South Wales and Northern Ireland Section of the Showman’s Guild, said ” We are naturally disappointed that we are unable to bring the fair to Hereford but we can’t wait to return to the streets there in 2022.”

Abie Morris, on behalf of the Morris Family, said “We are also saddened the we are not able to visit Leominster this time. We will miss bringing the fun and entertainment to town and will make 2022 better than ever.”

On behalf of Herefordshire Council, Cllr Tyler, Cabinet Member Housing , Regulatory Service and Community Safety, said “Whilst it is disappointing that these popular events in Leominster and Hereford will not be able to take place due to the timescale, the Council reaffirms it’s support for both fairs and I have no doubt that our residents can welcome them back next year.”
